About the Hospital
The Children's Hospital of Fudan University, founded in 1952 and designated a National Children's Regional Medical Center (East China), is one of China's most academically distinguished pediatric hospitals, ranked first in pediatrics and second in pediatric surgery in the National Rankings for over ten consecutive years.
It holds seven national clinical key specialties — including neonatology, pediatric emergency and critical medicine, and pediatric gastroenterology — and in 2023 recorded 2.51 million outpatient and emergency visits, 49,700 inpatient admissions, and 20,500 surgeries.
The hospital was the first children's hospital in Asia to achieve JCI accreditation and has since maintained this status under the sixth-edition JCI criteria for academic medical centers, reflecting institutional commitment to international patient-safety standards. Its rare disease diagnosis center, with specialty clinics covering more than 40 disease categories, and its newly established Major Organ Transplant Center make it the premier referral destination in eastern China for children with complex, rare, or life-threatening conditions.
