Professional Biography

Dr. Yang Shaobo is Associate Chief Physician in Pediatric Surgery at Children's Hospital of Fudan University, Shanghai. Clinical expertise includes Hirschsprung disease and congenital anorectal malformations, Anorectal disorders (anal fistula, perianal abscess, intestinal polyps, anal fissure), Management of post-operative fecal soiling, Gastrointestinal duplication, Meckel's diverticulum, and general pediatric surgery. First researcher to demonstrate aberrant overexpression of the TET1 DNA demethylase gene in both the narrowed and dilated colonic segments of Hirschsprung disease — identifying TET1-mediated 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5-hmC) alteration as a novel epigenetic mechanism in HSCR pathogenesis (Pediatrics & Neonatology 2022).
