Professional Biography

Dr. Zhang Bin is Chief Physician in Head & Neck Surgery at Peking University Cancer Hospital, Beijing. Zhang serves as Director and Professor, Department of Head & Neck Surgery. Clinical expertise includes Thyroid cancer (papillary, follicular, anaplastic) — surgery and minimally invasive approaches, Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (oropharyngeal, hypopharyngeal, laryngeal), Oral cancer and salivary gland tumors, Mediastinal lymph node metastasis from thyroid cancer — video mediastinoscopy-assisted dissection. First in China to successfully perform transoral robotic thyroidectomy (TORT) in 2017 — together with colleague Xu Yan, performed China's inaugural TORT procedure, establishing the scarless intraoral robotic approach for thyroid cancer; published landmark 20-case series report (World Journal of Otorhinolaryngology Head Neck Surgery, 2023, PMID: 37383335). Co-author, 'Three-port transoral robotic thyroidectomy without axillary incision: 20 cases in China' (World J Otorhinolaryngol Head Neck Surg, 2023, PMID: 37383335) and 'Surgeon-performed FNA for lymph nodes behind cervical vessels in papillary thyroid cancer' (Laryngoscope Investig Otolaryngol, 2022).
