Sichuan University West China Lecheng Hospital

Sichuan University West China Lecheng Hospital (四川大学华西乐城医院) is an innovative, clinical-research hospital located on Kangxiang Road in the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone in Qionghai, Hainan Province. It was invested and built by Hainan Development Holding Co., Ltd. and is coordinated by Sichuan University, which integrates the resources of its four West China affiliated institutions — West China Hospital, West China Second University Hospital (Women's and Children's), West China Hospital of Stomatology, and West China Fourth Hospital — with West China Hospital leading the operation and management. Its first phase occupies about 63 mu (roughly 4.2 hectares) with 200 planned beds, of which the first group opened in the initial phase.

The hospital is designed around a clinical-research and translational model. Its core diagnostic and treatment directions are oncology, rare diseases, and cell therapy (including stem cell therapy); its core orientation is real-world study (RWS); its core model is evidence-based medicine combined with multidisciplinary team (MDT) care; and its core distinguishing feature is the early clinical application of "new drugs, new devices, and new materials" and frontier medical technologies. Leveraging the Lecheng zone's special-access ("先行区") policy, it provides early clinical use of licensed innovative drugs and devices that are already approved abroad but not yet registered in mainland China, alongside premium international medical care.

Construction began in January 2021; the hospital started substantive trial operations (during which it issued China's first licensed special-drug prescription) and formally opened to the public on 26 November 2024. Planned centers include a Tumor (Oncology) Innovation Center, a Rare Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center, a Cell Therapy Center, an Oral Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center, a Nuclear Medicine Center, a Health Management Center, and a Precision Nutrition Center. It operates as a non-profit institution through a cooperative model between a state-owned enterprise and a public hospital.
