About the Hospital

Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (广东省中医院), also known as the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and the Guangdong Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, was founded in 1933. It is one of the earliest Chinese medicine hospitals established in modern Chinese history and is honored as the "First House of Apricot Grove in South China" (南粤杏林第一家). Today it is a Tertiary Grade-A (三级甲等) institution and a national high-level hospital construction unit.

The hospital operates as a multi-campus network, with a main campus on Dade Road and additional campuses at Ersha Island, Fangcun, University Town, and Zhuhai, plus several outpatient facilities, together providing roughly 3,145 beds and employing over 7,000 staff. Its annual patient service volume has ranked first among all Traditional Chinese Medicine hospitals in China for more than 20 consecutive years.

The hospital is known for combining Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern Western medicine across a broad range of clinical specialties, and it functions as a national clinical research base for Chinese medicine. It maintains extensive international collaboration, including partnerships with institutions in the United States, Japan, South Korea, Italy, and Hong Kong, and a joint Chinese medicine research base with Sweden's Karolinska Institute.
