The First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University

The First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University — known as Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Hospital — was established in 1978 with the explicit mandate of serving overseas Chinese and diaspora patients.

With 1,922 open beds, over 2,800 staff including 323 with senior professional titles, and operations across two main campuses and four outpatient departments, the hospital ranked first nationally in the 2021 National Health Commission performance evaluation of Grade-3 public hospitals — the highest comprehensive quality recognition in China's hospital system.

Fifteen provincial and ministerial-level key disciplines anchor its clinical strength, with flagship programs in neurology and cerebrovascular disease, orthopedics, general surgery, and medical imaging each recognized as provincially leading specialties. As China's primary hospital for overseas Chinese, it provides bilingual medical services and operates overseas Chinese health consultation networks connecting diaspora patients from Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Macau to specialist care on the mainland.
